about me
Inbar Elkayam, born in Israel in 1991 and currently based in Switzerland, is a renowned choreographer, performer, and dance educator. Educated at the Animato Dance and Theater Program in Rishon Lezion and the Bat Dor professional dancers training in Beer Sheva, Inbar brings a rich depth of knowledge and experience to the dance world. Her career features prestigious collaborations with the Leineroebana Dance Company (Netherlands) and Kibbutz Dance Company (Israel), along with work alongside esteemed artists like Doron Raz, Gilad Yrushalmi, and Merav Dagan.
Currently, Inbar is an active educator in Zurich, where she teaches contemporary and improvisation practice, as well as yoga practice. Her teaching style focuses on nurturing human connections and bringing innovative approaches to dancers of various groups and skill levels. Alongside her educational endeavors, Inbar is passionately committed to choreography, aiming not only to enrich the dance landscape but also to connect with a wide and varied audience through her artistic expression, and to reach individuals through her work. Her work is recognized for its ability to resonate with a broad spectrum of audiences, reflecting individual experiences and societal narratives. Her notable choreographic works include “Do You Remember?” (2017, Israel), “Fade In” (2018, for DIA Junior Company, Netherlands), and the significant solo production “Rebirth(st)ing” (2021).

“INSIGHT” is an exploration of the intricate relationship between perception and reality. Through a captivating blend of movement, gesture, and visual imagery, the piece delves into the complexities of human experience, challenging the boundaries between the seen and unseen, the familiar and the unknown.
Rooted in contemporary dance, INSIGHT unfolds as a journey of transformation, where each gesture tells a story, and each movement reveals a hidden layer of meaning. As the performers navigate this journey, the audience is invited to question their own perspectives, shedding light on the elusive nature of truth and understanding.
“REBIRTH(ST)ING”

“Rebirth(st)ing” is an exploration of self through the medium of vibration, delving into the depths of the soul. This performance is a journey towards shedding layers of identity, aiming to uncover a purer truth. The inspiration for this solo stemmed from an in-depth study of Solfeggio frequencies, a series of seven powerful tones that resonate with and elevate our chakras.
“Rebirth(st)ing” marks a significant leap in Inbar Elkayam’s artistic journey. The production has been met with acclaim from diverse audiences, reflecting its profound impact and artistic merit. The solo’s improvisational nature allows it to remain fresh and adaptable, changing subtly with each performance. In its most recent rendition, the piece was performed at the Trittli Gasse gallery in Zurich, in collaboration with Britt Edelman during her “Chairs and Sea” exhibition.
“FADE IN”

Drawing inspiration from the vibrant and complex world of nightclubs, “Fade In” delves into the realms of social behavior and human interactions. The piece reflects on the multifaceted identities we adopt in different social settings – as individuals, within a peer group, and as part of a larger community.
“DO YOU REMEMBER?”
Premiered in 2017 at Rishon-Lezion, Israel
This emotionally charged piece features performers Inbar Elkayam, David Satni, Nofar Gal, and Ayelet Avreham. The narrative centers around an elderly woman grappling with Alzheimer’s, portrayed through interactions with past versions of herself. This touching performance explores the impact of memory loss on relationships, oscillating between humor, sadness, and empathy. Inspired by changes in her grandmother’s health, Inbar uses this production to explore challenging themes with a mix of movement and humor.
